Some days are better than others. Some days we barely manage to pull ourselves up out of bed, chug our coffee, and sprint off to a job we semi-like, mostly hate. Other days we feel like we are finally making progress and our life is headed in the right direction. You are going to have a little bit of both of those as I have come to find out, so what do we do on those days when we just kind of wish we could go back to sleep for about a month? You get up and tell yourself these 15 things. You start your day with positive self-reinforcement and remind yourself that you are lucky to be alive and able to get up and go to work today. Because some days we just have to be our own motivation and encouragement.
"I am alive. I am thankful." It's easy to forget we could very well have not woken up this morning. We are lucky to get one more chance at life, one more chance to do something positive or to even just be alive. Thank God for that.
"I will work hard to become better today." Whether it's at your job, as a mother, as a friend, in the gym, no matter what it is, decide that you will put in the effort to become a better version of yourself each day. You would be surprised at how much this will affect your life and progress.
"Yesterday is over. Today is a new day." We may carry pain and struggle from day to day but technically each day is a new day. You have the choice to either allow yesterday's troubles to ruin the coming days or start fresh and try to live it as a complete, separate new day.
"I choose you." These can be the most powerful words you could ever say to yourself. Even if your life is falling apart or your hair sucks or you've gained a little weight, knowing that you still choose yourself, you still choose to be you and to live your life, even with all of the brokenness and flaws, is a beautiful thing. God chooses us every single day, but we have to choose ourselves as well.
"You can do this." These simple words reaffirm everything. Every situation, trial, goal, dream, remind yourself you can do it and keep pushing.
"I attract what I project." You'd be surprised how much your day and life will change by projecting positive vibes and happiness. If you want a positive happy life, be that for others and in return those types of people will be attracted back to you.
"I will own my mistakes." If you mess up, hurt someone, make a mistake, apologize (and mean it) and move on. We are human. We all make mistakes daily. Don't ever have too much pride to admit you were wrong or that you screwed up.
"I will turn the other cheek." Always choose the high road. Those who are mean, conniving, negative, or rude are only trying to bring you down with them. Respond with kindness always and watch it positively impact your life.
"I am worthy." Worthy of love, happiness, that raise or promotion. Although these things don't always happen for us immediately, don't let it affect your worth. When things don't go our way it's not because we don't deserve it, it is because we are SO worthy God has something even better planned.
"I will give, love, and do what I can for others." Be the lover and the giver. I know that is hard, especially when things aren't going great in our own lives but you never know who really needs those words of encouragement or a sign that they are loved. You will never feel bad about doing something good for someone else.
"I am still figuring things out." Life can be a mess. It's okay to admit that we don't have it all figured out. Whether you're 20, 40, or 60, if you're still trying to get it all sorted, trust me you're not the only one.
"I am content." You may not have everything you want at this exact moment and there may be a million things you still want to accomplish and that's great! But don't forget to be content each day with what you have and who you are. If you are always striving for the next best thing you will never be content or satisfied no matter what you accomplish.
"I love you." We spend a lot of time loving others and pouring into those relationships but often forget that we need to love ourselves too.
"I am not alone." If we are at the best point of our lives with an amazing job and relationship or we are going through the darkest time of our life, we are NEVER alone. God promises us he will NEVER leave us or forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6). When everyone in our lives fail us, He remains, always.
"Your hair looks awesome today." Give yourself a compliment! It's not a bad thing and it doesn't make you cocky or conceited. You deserve to feel good about yourself. Find something you like each day and compliment yourself.
As weird as talking to ourselves may seem, we need positive self-reinforcement and affirmation in our lives and often we look for it from others, which usually results in a lot of disappointment and negative thoughts. You have the power to make your days better by the thoughts you allow in your mind and by your attitude. Start today by trying to make a change in your self-talk and your thinking and I know that you will see your a positive change in not only yourself but in your life.
Do you talk to yourself? If so, what are some things you like to say or remind yourself? Let me know any great additions I can add to my list! Happy Monday beautiful people!
